Hello Florencio,

I hope you are well and happy!

We have a new and exciting opportunity to feature MANY of the members of your Pan South American network.

Because of our previous work in global collaboration, much of which were enhanced by REUNA, we have been asked to create the main featured event for the 2007 Latin American Studies Conference.  The working title of the conference is "Indigenous Languages, Cultures and Knowledge in the Americas: The Impact of New Technologies on Cultural Dialogue."

The conference will take place FEB 14, 15 and 16, 2007 in Florida (but may be viewed throughout the world).

I am asking you to assist by identifying the most appropriate Institutions connected to high-speed networks throughout South America that may wish to participate.

Our ideal case would be that one institution in (almost) every country on the continent would participate with several of their indigenous artists and musicians working with your best network engineers.  This would allow us to create a truly compelling view of how  network technologies can enrich the entire world's knowledge of Indigenous Languages, Cultures and Knowledge in the Americas.

So if you or one of your colleagues could provide me with a list of the most appropriate institutions in each country this are connected (and ideally a good contact person at each of these institutions) we can begin to work to put the team together.

I believe this event would be very news-worthy, and that we should get global coverage (CNN, BBC, Globos, etc)

Please let me know what you think.

Meantime, if you have not seen the short movie we made about our 5 continent distributed collaboration for SIGGRAPH 2005, please see the movie at:

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes,

James
